Rumors are circulating that Hedi Slimane will take over the creative reins from Stefano Pilati at the esteemed French fashion house of Yves Saint Laurent. Slimane, who’s most notable for his androgynous, ultra skinny forward-thinking suits, has reinvented himself as a photographer after exiting at the menswear division of Dior. This big transition is rather on the horizon since Stefano Pilati’s latest contract is due to expire next month, thus paving the way for Slimane’s entry into the Maison. Although Pilati’s occupancy has had a “giant step” forward in terms of profitability and growth in recent times, PPR chief executive Francois-Henri Pinault however did not make any comments concerning the designer’s contract renewal. Oliver Peoples is set to release a new pair of frames, the Double Helix, designed by BECK, which is inspired by the musician’s collection of vintage sunglases from the 1980’s. Peoples and Beck spent more than two years working on the frames. “Using a vintage pattern from Italy as a base, custom-made material was produced that appears as clear stripes from the front, while appearing pink or yellow from the sides.” Japan’s Porter bag line designed the special case for Oliver Peoples x BECK sunglasses. Sander back to Sander x3, Slimane to YSL?

Big fashion house creative changes have been pouring over the last few days. Jil Sander makes a third return to her namesake line, as reported by WWD, after an eight year hiatus, replacing Raf SImons. Sander’s first collection will come this June with Spring/Summer 2013. Her latest run being the UNIQLO +J line, which offers Sander’s minimal view at very reasonable price-points. We are interested to see how the post. Also poised for change is the YSL house which has been rumored to feature the return of Hedi Slimane into fashion after spending time in Los Angeles to focus on photography.
